Abstract

Deficiencies in the DRGs classification for paediatrics are highlighted. Some are intrinsic to the system and not easy to change. The paper concludes that costing studies must be sufficiently sophisticated to identify the true cost of hospital care for children if cost weights are not to disadvantage children.
